Straight Talk: Sheep & Goat News April 2014

It is hard for me to realize that spring has already sprung here in the upper Midwest. We still have frozen hydrants and snow in the wind breaks. I receive some calls from southern U.S. and
realize it’s probably time to think about worms and deworming, so I have included my blog post on wormers and coccidiosis in this letter, as both are timely issues.
I would also encourage you to take this opportunity to go to my blog and view the prolapsed vagina and uterus post. The website is www.askavetsheep.wordpress.com. This is the most
viewed of all the blog posts so there must be a lot of people dealing with this problem. In the last 15 months, there has been over 100,000 views on the blog site and over 4000 have viewed the prolapse site. That’s a lot of prolapses. We service what we sell so the blog site, Facebook, along with telephone conversations help us achieve that. I visited with a gentleman from Saudi Arabia on the phone for 30 minutes or so about a problem he was having with his goats. The world is getting smaller every day.
It is not long before show and sale season so be prepared. Have your health certificates in order and present only healthy and sound animals for sale and show.
We have entered the Ohio show and sale in Wooster which will be a first for us, as well as Katahdin’s, Midwest and Katahdin Expo in Nebraska. We look forward to seeing people again
and have limited room to bring product if someone needs something.
